But here’s the truth no one talks about: Sometimes, I walk out of a session feeling completely drained—spiritually, emotionally, even physically. Why? Because I don’t just deliver messages. I hold your pain. I witness your grief. I walk into your energy field and stand face-to-face with the emotions, memories, and souls that even you struggle to confront. Whether it’s a mother yearning for closure from her departed child… or a spirit that’s still angry, unsettled, or afraid to move on—every session takes a piece of my energy with it. And that’s okay. Because healing isn’t light work. But it does need balance. In this blog, I’ll take you behind the veil and share the unseen side of being a medium—why I sometimes feel drained after a reading, and how I recharge my spirit to continue serving you with love, clarity, and strength. Let’s begin. 1. Holding Emotional Weight That’s Not Mine When someone books a session, especially those who’ve lost someone recently, they bring with them a field of deep emotion—grief, confusion, pain, even unspoken guilt. As a medium, I open myself to their energy completely to serve as a clear channel. While I’m not “taking on” their pain, I’m feeling it. There are times when a mother is crying for her child who passed too soon. Or when a daughter longs to hear her father say he’s proud. These emotions pass through me. I remain centered, but the heart doesn’t stay untouched. How I Recharge: After such sessions, I take time to cry, to journal, or simply sit in silence. I let the emotion pass through me. I remind myself: “This was not mine to carry, but it passed through me for healing.” Letting it go is an act of spiritual hygiene. 2. Being a Bridge Between Two Worlds Is Energy-Intensive Mediumship is not just talking to spirits—it’s an attunement. It’s like tuning into a subtle radio frequency that requires intense concentration. Every spirit communicates differently—some through visuals, others through feelings, symbols, scents, or even rapid impressions. How I Recharge: I take spiritual “offline time.” I disconnect from all energetic inputs—no readings, no spirit communication, no discussions. Just grounding. Nature, salt baths, walking barefoot on grass—anything that roots me back into the Earth. 3. I Match My Frequency to the Client and the Spirit To serve both the living and the spirit, I must match their vibration. If a client’s energy is chaotic, filled with fear, trauma, or anger, I must stabilize and raise that frequency within the session to allow healing and communication. The same goes for spirits—some come with high light energy, others carry remnants of pain or confusion. The work is sacred, but energetically, it’s like adjusting dials on a radio constantly while running a marathon. How I Recharge: Post-session, I cleanse. This is non-negotiable. I use smoke (sandalwood, palo santo, or frankincense), sound healing, and lots of deep breathwork. I also visualize my aura being repaired and resealed with golden light. 4. Reading for Multiple Clients Back-to-Back Sometimes, out of service or demand, I take multiple readings in a day. I’ve done sessions for grieving parents in the morning, and for someone struggling with black magic in the evening. Every session pulls from a different spiritual reservoir. This back-to-back energy work can leave me feeling scattered, foggy, and heavy. How I Recharge: I schedule buffer time. At least 30–60 minutes between clients. Spiritual Boundaries Get Tested No matter how disciplined you are, some sessions push boundaries. Some clients want more answers than the spirit offers. Some want closure that can’t be given immediately. Some spirits are intense, and some don’t want to leave when the session ends. This spiritual overstretching can leave me feeling open and unprotected. How I Recharge: I enforce spiritual boundaries the way a doctor ends appointments. When the session ends, I close the channel. I even say it out loud: “Thank you, Spirit. The session is complete.” This closure resets the energetic contract. 7. My Emotional Triggers Can Be Activated As much as I aim to be neutral, I’m human too. If a father comes through in spirit, and he says something a client always longed to hear, it might mirror my wounds or memories. Sometimes, I cry after sessions—not just for them, but for parts of me too. This sacred mirroring is both healing and draining. How I Recharge: I process. I give myself space to sit with those emotions. I talk to a trusted healer or journal about it. I remember: Mediumship also heals the medium. 8. Energy Leaks From Overgiving Sometimes, I want a client so badly to get closure that I overextend myself. I try to find more signs, more messages, even when Spirit has said what they came to say. This overgiving is from compassion, but it creates energy leaks. When I give more than is asked spiritually, I pay the price physically. How I Recharge: I remind myself that I’m a channel, not a savior. I am here to deliver what is meant, not to force healing on someone’s timeline. Detachment is sacred. I reaffirm my role and stop trying to “fix.” 9. Energetic Imprints Stay Even After Session Ends Sometimes, even after a session ends, the energy of the client or spirit lingers. Their grief, their pain, their need for answers—it stays like an echo in the room or my body. This spiritual residue can create fatigue hours later. How I Recharge: I clean the space energetically—open windows, ring bells, mop floors with salt water. I bathe with rose water or essential oils to reset my auric field. The body and space must always be cleared. 10. Because I Care Deeply This may sound simple, but it’s the truth: I feel drained because I care. I don’t treat sessions as “jobs.” I enter each one with love, reverence, and full-hearted presence. I give it my all. And giving love is beautiful—but it does leave you tender and tired. How I Recharge: I let love flow back into me. I meditate on the Divine Mother. I listen to soulful bhajans. I rest. I don’t chase productivity. I let myself be filled before I serve again. Final Thoughts: Drained, Not Broken To feel drained after a reading doesn’t mean something went wrong—it means something sacred was given. Something real passed through me.
